List of things Americans should be sad/angry about:
1] we are the richest nation in the world in terms of material resources/wealth yet one of five children in the US go bed hungry every night because they don't have enough food to eat.

2] We have lost over 70,000 human beings with the numbers of dead growing exponentially every day yet many of us feel angry about the necessity of social distancing and the consequent incursions on our freedom of movement; equating it with a loss of liberty that is not comparable
to the caging of children who had the bad luck to be born to poor parents fleeing their homeland for a better life. Ironically, many legal immigrants to our country are willing to ignore the plight of these children because they lack empathy for anyone outside their own family.
3] Our President is a racist/malignant narcissist/ ignorant man who cares far more about being reelected than preventing the unnecessary loss of lives to the corona virus. So, he bullies state leaders to reopen for business so the economic picture in November will be less bleak.
4] Putin is destroying our democracy by weaponizing our ignorance: a disinformation campaign cannot succeed unless its target population is easy to manipulate because of its ignorance combined with its racial and class divisions.
5] More than 40% of Americans do not appreciate that our democracy and its institutional safeguards are in serious jeopardy despite warnings from others that our democratic institutions are only as strong as the people in them.
Churchill once said that you can trust the U.S to do the right thing only after exhausting all other alternatives. If true when he said it, its truth today is in serious question.
