Help please. I've been unable to identify this caterpillar. It's 20mm long, silk producing, non-looping, food plant unknown.

Many thanks to those who ID'ed it. The name turns out to be a perfect riposte to the clever folk saying "he's called Colin", or "Geoff", or "Bill". He (or she) is called Timothy Tortrix. Really. Perhaps because Timothy grass is one of its food plants?

This cure could be worse than the disease. As usual, they say the material will come from crop wastes. As usual, fresh materials will be used instead, perhaps with dire consequences.
The answer is not different disposable materials. It's reusable bottles. theguardian.com/environment/20…
NEVER believe the promise "we'll use waste material". With biodiesel, biogas and biomass burning, this promise has been repeatedly broken. Fresh materials provide more consistent feedstocks and are cheaper to handle. The promise of "eventually" recycling waste is pure spin.
ALWAYS ask: where will the material come from? How much land is needed to grow it? How much food production will it displace? How much farm chemical use and soil erosion will it cause?
We've been here many times before, but keep falling for the same con.

We need to
- ban driven grouse shooting

- bring in a general right to roam

Everyone in the UK has a legitimate interest in the very fabric of our nation, the land. But the great majority has been alienated from us, as a small number of people claim exclusive property and rights in it. With the exception of Scotland, we are trespassers in our own country
I would love to see the rights enjoyed in Scotland - a general right to roam and community buy outs - extended to the rest of the UK. We would benefit greatly from a more balanced pattern of ownership and more democratic decision making. All this and more: landforthemany.uk
