Reposting these fave photos of my beautiful, vibrant mother on this first Mother's Day without her

My dishwasher imploded today, flooding the kitchen. She would have thought this a hilarious Mom's Day activity: she would have known immediately what to do while dad flailed around
One of last things I grabbed from the old house before it was cleared was a stack of pillowcases--a representative sample of the amazing '70s bedlinens that followed us thru multiple moves into a new millennium. They were so mom. Pillowcases are useful. She never threw them out.
I thought, maybe I'll make a quilt or something with these crazy florals and geometrics. I couldn't think of not having them anymore. Mom kept them FOREVER.

Anyway, during this freak May cold snap, I used them to cover the plants in my garden. Mom to the rescue again.
And lemme tell you, as I await a plumber -- they don't make sheets like they used to. I don't think I've ever owned a set of sheets as durable and quality as any of these.

Anyway -- here's to all the moms that teach us practical things so we can someday kind of be grown-ups 🍸🍸
