Happy Mother's Day! We are so proud of all the pro-choice Democratic moms who have stepped up to run for office.

Because when moms are in office, policy outcomes change for the better. When moms are at the decision making table, we all benefit. #HappyMothersDay #ElectMoms Image
.@TammyforIL knows what it’s like to be a working mom. In 2018, Tammy became the first senator to give birth while in office.

But Senate rules didn’t allow babies on the Senate floor. So Tammy fought to change the rule and later voted with her newborn daughter on her lap.
After losing her son Jordan to gun violence, @lucymcbath channeled her grief into action and became an advocate and a congresswoman.

“By fighting in Congress to protect our kids, I am continuing my role as Jordan’s mom."
.@friendsforbatch, a lawyer and North Carolina state representative, had to take unpaid leave after the birth of her sons.

This year, Sydney shared her story in Congress when she testified in support of paid family and medical leave. We need more moms like Sydney in office!
Rep. @katieporteroc is the only single mom with young children in Congress. She understands the challenges moms face, including expensive child care costs.

That’s why she introduced legislation to help more working parents like her run for office!
Mother and grandmother @AlmaforCongress founded the Black Maternal Health Caucus with @LaurenUnderwood last year.

Thank you, Alma, for working to improve health care outcomes for Black mothers across America.
.@AngieCraigMN, the first gay mom in Congress, made it possible for LGBTQ+ couples to adopt children in TN when she fought for custody of her son in court.

Even before she was a representative, Angie’s courage showed us that all parents should be treated equally under the law.
Join the EMILY’s List community to help ELECT MORE MOMS up and down the ballot. #HappyMothersDay Image

Get to know our new President, Jessica Mackler! 🧵
Jessica comes from a political family.
- Her grandfather was a union leader.
- Her parents volunteered on campaigns.
- Her grandmother was an EMILYs List member.
Fun fact: Jessica Mackler began her career at EMILYs List as an intern, and like many of the staff here, she learned that it’s through hard work and sheer grit that you make it happen — there’s a dedication to doing whatever it takes to level the playing field for women.

On the 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade, it’s important to remember that nearly 2 years ago, an anti-choice U.S Supreme Court stole our right to reproductive freedom. Roe was more than a court case; it gave us power to make decisions about our bodies and futures #RememberingRoe🧵 Image
Since Roe was overturned, 21 states across the country have moved to ban or restrict abortion nationwide. And if that wasn't enough, extremists are going after birth control and restricting travel for abortion care. #RememberingRoe
Voters have not forgotten, and the pro-choice majority is making their voices heard nationwide. Since the Dobbs decision, we have seen voters come out in force to protect abortion rights and take a stand against extremists trying to strip us of our rights #RememberingRoe Image

One year ago, the Supreme Court succeeded in doing what Republicans have tried to do for nearly 50 years: overturning Roe v. Wade. They overturned a constitutional right for the first time in our nation’s history and jeopardized the rights and freedoms of millions of Americans.
Your rights now depend on where we live and who represents you. Over the past year, extremist Republicans across the country have further stripped away freedoms at the state level with near-total abortion bans and restrictions.
There is still hope: reelecting Democratic governors and flipping legislatures in Michigan and Minnesota have allowed those states to codify protections for abortion rights.
