Ahmaud Arbery in February. Almost Dameon Shepard just the other day. Let's call these little citizen interventions what they are: lynch mobs. nytimes.com/2020/05/10/us/…
This photo is from the movie To Kill a Mockingbird, which depicts a Jim Crow-era lynch mob in 1930s Alabama coming for Tom Robinson, a Black man falsely accused. What happened in North Carolina to Mr. Shepard just last week is way too close for comfort.
That America today can so closely resemble 1930s Alabama is shameful. Good people - the vast majority of us - need to stand up to this latest rise in racial violence. Or more Dameons and Ahmauds will become victims of senseless hate as history repeats itself in the worst ways.
@GovKemp is either living under a rock, or misleading us. He has access to top officials and health experts. The @cdc is 3 miles from the governor's mansion. And GA has nearly 5k reported cases of COVID and rising. Lives are at stake; the excuse cannot be "I didn't know." @gapol
Leadership is about making tough, informed decisions based on evidence and the advice of experts. @GovKemp was listening -- but only to @realDonaldTrump. This is what blind partisanship does. We needed the stay-at-home order a week ago. @gapol
Real lives are at stake. Our families and our loved ones. In places like Albany, GA, communities are reeling because of @GovKemp's inaction. #gapolnytimes.com/2020/03/30/us/…
Just watched @KLoeffler pledge her allegiance to @realDonaldTrump . My first question is will she take the oath of office with her hand on the Bible or The Art of the Deal. #gapol
@KLoeffler@realDonaldTrump What I didn't hear was anything about healthcare or how she's going to protect Georgians with pre-existing conditions.
@KLoeffler@realDonaldTrump What I didn't hear was anything about protecting our children from the gun violence epidemic. As a former teacher, it will be a top priority for me in the Senate. #gapol
