Killing standardized testing favors wokeness. It allows social engineers to bypass empiricism, make fairness fluid, grades into a feeling, and manufacture a world of their choosing.

BTW, eliminating standardized testing is not a "shock", but part of a steady a progression, diminishing the role of empiricism year after year in admissions criteria. It's practically at the point of total subjectivity already. See: Asians @ Harvard lawsuit.

There are legit criticisms of the SAT/ACT
-underperformance correlates w/race, but moreso socioeconomics
-the rich can afford prep to score higher
-parts are formulaic & can be gamed w/prep
-it's a 2-company monopoly
-some are not great test-takers

It's not that the SAT/ACT are perfect or shouldn't improve. It's that you need a consistent way to compare core skills across schools w/varying standards.

I've volunteered in NYC public schools for years w/Junior Achievement. A-students in some schools would get C's in others.

That said, this move away from empiricism serves nobody. Aside from the suspect value of most schools/majors & obscene costs, dropping standards is now a form of torture for poor & minority students, who drop out or take longer & longer to graduate.

Changing/eliminating standards doesn't do what do-gooders think. Instead of leveling the playing field, it evades root causes of underperformance, creating nominal stats for do-gooders to feel good, while punting failure forward for kids they claim to want to help.

Unless you're EMPIRICALLY better, EVERYONE is lying to you. Whether you're in third grade or the boardroom.
