Americans are victims of relentless corporate public relations strategies. Employers, universities, brands, governments, all of them wielding attorney-guided, focus group-tested rhetoric that sounds like it means everything while intentionally meaning nothing.
It’s this corporate ethos that has made modern life so unbearable. Every major body, whether a business or university or government, knows what it needs to SAY as a means to avoid DOING literally anything.

Trump’s “response” to the pandemic is this strategy personified.
It’s something to see literally every major institution in American life say all of the right things in terms of handling the pandemic while avoiding any responsibility or specific action necessary to actually handle it.

This is the America hypercapitalism has created.
Corporate America - and this, I fully believe encapsulates businesses, academia, and government - has perfected a system of maximum profit and minimum responsibility.

That’s how we get to this pandemic and crisis. Our entire system was built on offloading responsibility.
Truly, any discussion of this pandemic is incomplete without studying the hypercapitalism installed by economic who used Reagan as a puppet.

It’s the answer to the underlying question: why won’t anyone do anything?

For the record, this is why every single commercial for a corporation that refuses to pay a living wage or give their employees decent healthcare sounds the exact same right now.

It’s America’s corporate lie cannibilizing itself on a loop. Over and over and over.
