Statements of concern from Republican senators who have absolutely no intention of doing anything about an obvious crisis are just the political version of corporations and institutions releasing lawyer-approved, focus-group tested statements that mean nothing whatsoever.
It’s this garbage that stops anyone or any institution from taking responsibility or leading, the weighing of risk vs searching for moments of personal advantage and profit. It’s a performance, and a flimsy one at that, an act of understanding what’s right but not fighting for it
