So I'm looking for some clarity here. If the purpose of wearing masks is to prevent coughed or sneezed or "moistly-said" droplets from reaching others, it doesn't matter if I re-use the same mask again and again and touch it as much as I want, right? (Thread)
2) Because a non-N95 mask isn't about protecting me from getting the virus, it's ostensibly about stopping my coughs/sneezes from reaching others as easily as they otherwise might. Homemade cloth masks do next to nothing to prevent the wearer from becoming infected, and yet...
3) I keep seeing people criticizing others for touching their own masks or adjusting them, etc. Who cares if the wearer touches their own mask? They're not wearing the mask to avoid getting sick. I mean, sure, they should avoid touching their face as a general rule, but...
4)...I'm not sure why we're criticizing people who are wearing masks for touching their own masks.

In fact, I'm not sure why so many people are into mask-shaming in general.

If someone ISN'T wearing a mask, and yet they're at least six feet away from another person, who GAF?
5) Can we just stop it already? Dr. Fauci and the surgeon general and other experts were giving VERY different messaging about masks just weeks ago, and now EVERYONE is acting like a f*cking PhD in mask-wearing.

Presume goodwill. Presume most folks want to do the right thing...
6) Everyone just take a breath, extend each other some grace, and stop being so freaking judgmental about other people's mask-habits. This is new to all of us. Some folks have medical issues that preclude them from wearing a mask...
7) ...and the bottom line is, you're not the mask-expert. Even the mask-experts aren't mask experts.

In conclusion...
