The media's double standard is even more egregious when it comes to the media's treatment of Tara Reade's accusations of sexual assault against Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.

Assoc Justice Brett Kavanaugh was not accused of rape. But the Left still called him a "rapist" and insisted that an accusation of sexual assault (forced kissing and groping) 35 years earlier, with no corroborating witnesses or evidence, must be believed.

But when Tara Reade accuses Democrat Joe Biden of rape, @SenSchumer says Biden's denial is all he needs to know. And @SenFeinstein says, "I don't know this person [Reade]. Where has she been all these years?"

I'm sorry - what?

Lefty talking heads @JoeNBC, @maddow, @JoyVBehar, @Lawrence & @cenkuygur have screamed for years that @realDonaldTrump is an aspiring fascist.

But they're dead silent at the abuse of power, illegal surveillance & entrapment that went on under the Obama administration.

The self-appointed elites in this country are taking rank hypocrisy to new and dangerous levels. They know that the press will protect them, just as it did Clinton and Obama -- and Harvey Weinstein and Ed Buck and Jeffrey Epstein and God only knows how many others.

While Americans protest the unfairness of this double standard, the elites behave as if they are utterly unaccountable for and immune from any consequences.

They're wrong.

When one side abandons standards, eventually both sides do. We've seen this already. The same people who were outraged when Trump used a bad word told us "It's just sex," when Clinton engaged in sexual encounters with an intern in the Oval Office -- then lied about it under oath.

Americans will finally get fed up with the double standards, the lies & the hypocrisy, and will go after those who profit from it all. One can argue (and I have) that Trump's election was, in no small part, just such a reaction.

But the left - particularly the media - never learns. It doubles down. They reminds me of the French nobility in 1788, still frantically clinging to the ancien régime.

The stubbornness and sense of entitlement so prevalent in France's ruling class didn't end well for them.

Those who consider themselves our betters should take heed. It's highly unlikely that they'll lose their heads. But a great many of them should lose their jobs.
