Why did the DOE repeal a rule designed to protect students from excessive debt at for-profit colleges?

In partnership with @studentlegalnet, we’re suing the DOE to release records related to the June 2019 repeal of the Gainful Employment Rule.

Our lawsuit seeks the release of records of communication between Department of Education officials, including Secretary Betsy DeVos, and any non-governmental entities about the repeal of the rule.
And ICYMI: We obtained Deptartment Of Education records that show representatives of DeVry lobbied the DOE to roll back the gainful employment rule.

A federal judge has gutted Florida's law that required formerly incarcerated citizens to pay fines before they could exercise their right to vote.

NEW DOCUMENTS: We obtained emails showing a top political appointee at the Small Business Administration sharing employees’ resumes with the White House official leading Trump’s loyalty purge.

Personnel office head John McEntee reportedly held a Feb. 20 meeting in which he asked cabinet agency White House liaisons to identify political appointees and career officials they thought were anti-Trump.
We FOIA’d for liaisons’ communications with McEntee, and we received records from the Small Business Administration showing SBA Senior Adviser and White House Liaison Christopher Gray sending two officials’ resumes to McEntee on Feb. 28.
