Get ready for a #Cubs virtual season ticket holder meeting! 🍻
Hello Len!! And away we go!!
My Friendly Confines... presenter by Wintrust!
Tom talking about the employee assistance fund. There will be future forums for season ticket holders
Tom talking about the resumption of baseball. Goal is trying to get into their home parks without fans. The league is putting protocols to safeguard players and personnel to create a safe working environment. Their is no 100% answer or all clear
Tom-Discussing the finance of how to bring players back. If games with no fans are played, that affects things. 70 percent of revenue comes from day of game. The other 30 percent is from the media, local and national
Tom-Conversations with the mayor and governor and get the final approval from them.
Safety mechanisms
Finances
Ability to play baseball at all ballparks
Crane Kenney up. First off talking about safety precautions about potentially having fans attend. Protocols for all potential scenarios, fans or no fans
Working within phases.
Phase 1-Just the players
Phase 2-fans, but not 40,000 fans.
Distancing procedures, cleaning procedures, all being discussed
March April and May games that are not being refunded getting 5% interest. Some fans wanted their money back and were able to get refunded. Future games not determined, will wait until the end of May for June games decisions. Refunds are being processed right now
Engagement with fans through website and social media. Workouts through Instagram, recipes by the Cubs nutritionist, and behind the scene looks from Watch Marquee’s 163 series which is available on YouTube
Crane on ballpark modifications. Two or three major projects left. Press box is complete, some concourse work, and additional netting down the lines. Projects are all done
Question about concerts at Wrigley. Dead and Company and Zac Brown cancelled and money refunded. Other shows are presented by Live Nation will fall in three categories postponed, rescheduled, or cancelled. So no decision has been made
In park entertainment if there are no fans. Evaluating international approach to baseball. Their will be an organist! I told you!! Three new organists!!
The new organist will play at Wrigley tomorrow for the neighbors!!
Awesome!!
The question has come up. Marquee and Comcast negotiations. Negotiations were picking up, but clearly the postponement of the season has caused negotiations to slow down. Without live games, not a ton of demand, but when baseball does come back, negotiations should ramp up
Negotiations will also happen with Dish and YouTube
No word on the Northwestern vs Wisconsin football game. Hoping to get it in.
My question about the giveaways. Many were never produced as it was halted when the season was paused. Will talk with their corporate partners
Crane-Not looking for any price increases for the 2021 season
Cubs charities immediately created a Covid Response team. Giving hotel rooms to front line workers at Hotel Zachary, food donations at Wrigley. 3600 meals have been delivered to hospitals and clinics.
Cubs Charities are providing iPads for ICU’s so that patients can connect to their families and friends that cannot visit them.
Partnership with Lakeview Food Pantry to use Wrigley as a temporary packaging and distribution center. Cubs Charities doing great things
Reports have surfaced about the budget. Repeating the point that 70% of revenue comes from in game sales. All teams will lose substantial amounts of money. No team will have an advantage over another for the following year
Question about crowds around Wrigley if no fans are allowed. Spring Training will more likely than not happen at Wrigley. Cubs are working with the Mayor to make sure safety guidelines that the city has enforced so far. Very, very few people will come into contact with players
Question about price changes if fans are allowed in and spaced out. Pricing on seats and concessions have not been discussed
The intention is if fans are allowed in, season ticket holders would get first priority for those tickets
The league intends to start in early July. If there are health risks or arguments with players over salary, then the start date would be pushed back. The commissioner is intent on getting some kind of season in.
Refund on the London Series. It was a league event so it goes through Ticketmaster. Some have gotten refunds, others have not
Question about the new netting. Not at full height all the way down. It tapers down the closer it gets down the foul pole. They will not extend all the way to the foul pole
Another of my questions! Cubs Convention for 2021. No decision has been made but they will keep fans informed
Refunds should be for full amount for April and May. There was a small glitch where a few people got batch refunds
Spring Training 2.0-Players and owners still discussing timeframe. Potential 2-3 week spring training. Games may have pitchers on limited pitch count
Question-Will the Gallagher big screen be broadcasting games. Not as long as city ordinances are in place.
Any liking to the amount of people in the clubs? Yes limited basis. I sure as heck didn’t ask that one! 😂😂
That’s it. Don’t know if all that much was learned, but to be honest, it was an interesting experience. I’m glad the Cubs continue to reach out to the season ticket holders.
Alright peeps, going to ice down my thumbs! Thanks for sticking around and thanks to everyone that gave me a few shoutouts! Stay safe #Cubs fans!
Crane on if fans will be at Wrigley this season-“I do”. Crane has been talking to health officials and is very optimistic. Working with the city and the mayor’s staff
What about rooftops, restaurants, other Rickett properties around Wrigley-Each rooftop has separate addresses so rooftops WILL be opened for the first game of the season. Restaurants already open. Hotel does not open yet
