3/ Longevity means embracing change. Only 60 companies from the 1955 Fortune 500 list were still on the list in 2017. Companies have undergone massive transformations and have fundamentally changed themselves to survive and thrive. A short thread on this.
4/ We use products made by the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company on a daily basis. 3M is ubiquitous.
5/ Nokia started out as a pulp mill in 1865. They were making toilet paper rolls even in the 1960s.
6/ Motorola used to make radios before World War II.
7/ Nintendo used to make Japanese playing cards called Hanafuda when they started out in the late 19th century.
8/ From triple-barreled gun turrets for warships to the Panzer 35 (t) tank, Skoda made a lot of different things before becoming a car manufacturer.
