Aaand Terraria has finished updating. Time to go see what's new!
Ooh, I like the new character creation and world generation interface, but my favorite change so far is that short swords can be aimed! They are slightly less completely useless!
The way just barely visible gleaming flecks of ore at the surface now tend to lead to giant veins makes the early days a LOT easier!
Also some of the zombies just randomly carrying torches is a small but welcome quality of life improvement in early nights.
Done playing Terraria: Journey's End for the day, I think. Only three hours in. It mostly just feels like "Terraria, but better" which is about what I would have hoped for from a game-changing update? Haven't tried the titular Journey mode yet, just playing Classic.
I've noted (but not yet used) the ability to craft at least some of the statues out of stones and the things the statues are of, which is nice. The Wand of Sparking has been changed from a mostly useless item to a serviceable early game weapon.
WAS NOT EXPECTING doors to auto-open for me on PC and accidentally let zombies into my house. Will look to see if that can be turned off.
