@theBMA needs to have words with GPs who must have been fully aware that their patients were suddenly dying in far larger numbers than before during a public health emergency where careful attributation if cause of death is critical.

It matter for the sake of the living, especially those vulnerable, unable to help themselves & in care homes. It matters so that services, the NHS, Local Authorities have an accurate record of disease reach and spread. It is a question of public health, care and honesty.
Without high quality, accurate data it becomes exponentially more difficult to prevent the same mistakes happening again and again.
