What does it mean, I wonder, that this hasn't happened already? What would you conclude if for some reason, everyone in a big, crime-ridden city left their doors unlocked for weeks and yet there were no burglaries, or no more than normal?
I'd perhaps conclude they *are* up more than normal, we're just not hearing about them.
Anything short of a *massive* attack is probably getting pushed out of the news by the coronavirus, the Trump follies, the economy, and all the journalists losing their jobs/working from home. Probably hackers have had a glorious few months.
Probably if I hung out in cybersecurity circles, I'd be hearing stories that made my hair stand up daily.
I wonder how big an attack has to be to qualify as "national news" at a time like this?
The reason it would be especially bad if this happened is because--in case you hadn't noticed--we're already having some problems with our economy and suffering from a few problems with our reputation for competence and good governance.
If you add that to the mix, I think you could be pretty certain there won't be a recovery in our lifetimes.
