As a voter, I walked my daughter through the steps she needs to take to make sure her ballot application is processed and her ballot mailed out. This is her first time voting. Many of us as parents still handle paperwork etc for our older teens.
We requested our absentee ballots a few weeks ago by email, using the email provided on the ballot and the My Voter page. Last week or so, I followed up to see if my ballot had been processed. No response.
Fast forward to yesterday, I notice two different email addresses on the county website for submitting a ballot application. So I click the email button and send an email to the other email address. Got a reply and my ballot is being processed. Told my daughter to follow up.
But I wonder how many people have ballots sitting in an email box that isn't being checked or that fell through the cracks. The county boards of elections are overwhelmed. This is what a state task force should be addressing, not going after folks over unintentional errors.
