a real good practice is to get to know and understand yourself. What motivates you? What makes you happy? When you most productive? How do you like to work? All those questions appear from time to time but people rarely notice and highlight them

A good start will just find questions that will help you and of course answer them for yourself.

But sometimes it's hard to tell what is really important for you. Well, in this case, it's really helpful to keep a diary. Even after a week you can read through your notes and understand what did you do for the last week. What was there and what was missing?

3/19
Things that were there you can evaluate and ask yourself: did you enjoy them or not? Do you want to do these things more? And things that were missing you can try to do next week. After the next week read and analyze your diary again.

4/19
And in a perfect scenario, you'll have a balanced life with time spread between things that you don't really like but do every day and things that you were missing but found a minute or two to do them.

5/19
For example, if you feel that you don't have the energy or just don't have any motivation to improve your life then it can be a start metric! Just write down how do you feel after you woke up, brush your teeth, and had a meal.

6/19
To simplify this process just don't worry about accuracy. And put any number from 1 to 10 how do you feel your energy level? What about motivation to do the next step, for example, start working?

7/19
repeat such mini-retro after every action you did during your day. After a week you can analyze your spreadsheet and understand, for example, that the most energy you have in the morning. But the most motivation to do something you've got after work in the evening.

8/19
And after that, your diary will help you define what you were missing. It can be a piano play or workout or anything else. In this case, you'll need to start trying to do what you're missing the most every evening for 5 minutes!

9/19
But after a week or two, you'll either start doing what you wanted for 5 minutes a day or just stop trying ;) Both results are good! Because a failure it's still a result!

10/19
I believe you'll be happy to spend at least 5 minutes a day with a thing that you wanted. And in perspective, this thing can give you more energy and motivation to make other changes in your life.

11/19
But if you still can't spend even 5 minutes in the evening with a thing that you wanted so much because of lack of energy then you need to find some ways to get more energy!

12/19
From your spreadsheet that you've created earlier, you can find out that coffee or a nap for an hour are great energy boosters because you feel yourself full of energy in the morning.

13/19
Then I'd recommend you to start trying to get a nap after you work. And if after the nap you feel dizzy or sluggish try a cup of coffee and maybe a 5-minute walk on fresh air. It should give you an energy boost for at least 5 more minutes.

14/19
Remember that your goal just 5 minutes a day with something you really wanted to do but didn't have enough energy. Don't make unrealistic and hard to achieve goals when it's so hard to start for you!

15/19
And of course, it's totally expected that after such routine you might not be able to sleep until late at night and feel yourself without energy in the morning. It's totally fine! Any change in your life might take some time and effort.

16/19
If everything goes well in a month or two you'll have a new habit and you will strive to finish your work and start doing it. And at this moment it should be OK to skip your nap time and try to get your morning energy back!

17/19
So as you can see it's a pretty simple technique that involves lots of observation and analysis. And the point of this technique is to trick yourself with a missing goal and make a habit to observe and analyze your life all the time!

18/19
If you're doing everything right in the end you'll have an ability to rebalance your life and change anything that you like or don't like! Thus be in control of your life!
