In anti-disinformation work, we often see people that fit that description referred to as "useful idiots," a term that I believe was originally popularized by the Kremlin during the Cold War but is, as you can see, still very relevant today.

Now imagine you have a method of figuring out who is exploitable within any population without having to interact with them at all, based only on information on their fears, hopes, shameful desires, which you've secretly gathered and attached to their names and habits.
Imagine further that you have spent time figuring out what their buttons are and how to push them. It isn't perfectly accurate but even if you're right about one in ten, that's a lot of troubled and lost people willing to die for the "right" cause. Or more to the point, kill.
And that, my friends, is how @Facebook fucked us all over by selling our personal psychographic data to anyone who wanted it.
The troubled, the lost, the sheltered and the naive, the egomaniacal, and the hopelessly insecure -- all are exploitable and who I mean when I talk about "those vulnerable to such messaging."
