1/ The importance of a level playing field for standards between the UK and the EU is highlighted here.

If the UK is now legislating to lower food import standards and we import low quality food items into the UK post Brexit then we could use those low quality ingredients
2/ to make product to export into the EU. This would damage the integrity of the Single Market that currently protects half a billion consumers.

If UK wants an FTA with the EU and access to Single Market then we have to maintain the minimum
3/3 standard of that market or lose access.

That's what @BorisJohnson signed up to just last year and now is legislating AGAINST the LPF in breach of the Politcal Declaration.

1/6 Thirty three days folks. That's all that's left for UK to request an extension to the Brexit talks and be able to continue to enjoy many of the benefits of being an EU member.

33 days to formalize an agreement on fishing rights and more importantly "equivalence for FinServ"
2/6 Financial Services equivalence will reduce the need for UK companies to relocate out of the UK to the EU with the danger of massive tax income loss to HM Treasury but at the same time equivalence would mean UK FinServe regulators being bound to EU regulations.
3/6 So, not only do we have 33 days to have agreement on fishing, citizens rights, payments into EU budget, and the Irish Border but also the complex issue of Financial Services Equivalence in order to save whats left of the UK economy post Covid19.

Its vital to secure these

All very well until you realise that theaverage GDP per capita of Commonwealth citizens is $3,500 and less if you take out Canada and Australia. ...
2/3 compared to $35,000 per capita in the EU.

The average price of a UK built exported car is £20,600. How many do you think we could sell into the Commonwealth?
3/3 Over 700,000 people work in the UK automotive sector and we export hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of UK made cars each year to the EU.

It simply isn't a realistic swap!

1/2 Looks like Northern Ireland have been preparing for Brexit for years too. Just Westminster that is doing nothing.

N.I. exports to GB fell by 9% in 2018/19 while exports to Ireland increased by 9% and increased by 21% to rest of EU.
2/3 UK Gvmnt still failed to publish a plan for border checks between N.I. and GB. Never mind the infrastructure that isnt there, there still arent any plans to agree what to check, where to check it, or how to check it. No I.T. system, not even
3/3 the customs forms have been designed in their desk top publishing software.

UK Gvmnt figs suggest that 5-20% of SMEs are ready and a max 60% of cross border traders would be ready for end of transition on 31/12/20.
