I can anecdotally confirm (I have friends who are MAGA people):
* For the most part, they agree with some criticisms of the current president, especially his behavior on Twitter
* _but_ they are tired of being lied to and manipulated by more diplomatic politicians
* They are also tired of being categorized as either lower-class or ignorant, both by politicians and the media
* Though some are flat-earthers, the more educated ones aren't "science deniers" as much as they are "null-hypothesis advocates" (think Levitt and Dubner, Freakonomics)
* They generally want to be left alone (libertarian views) but, quizzically, some want regulation to define what 'left alone' means (deglobalization, tariffs, protectionism, etc.)
* Contrary to portrayals, I can't remember a MAGA supporter ever getting mad at me for disagreeing
* Some of them believe whatever DJT says
* But TBF, think about the blind beliefs of more "educated" people. To what extent do they believe something because a professor or organization says to? (a tendency MAGA folks are critical of) Financial advisors blindly accept CAPM, etc.
* E.g., evidence for CAPM is so pervasive that it's on Wikipedia. I've tried to show the evidence to financial advisors, professors, etc., and almost all refuse to look
* MAGA people (skeptical of authority) have no problem with CAPM being false

* "Educated" people are good at changing their minds on theories they've closely examined the evidence for - not so much for theories they're told are "true"
* MAGA people are good at being skeptical of established structures but need to think more deeply about their own views
* IMO, the lesson here is told hold most beliefs as lightly as possible and to learn from people we disagree with rather than dismissing their views
* "We don't know the answer; all we can do is guess" is a good starting point for most discussions
* In other words, be a trader 😎
