Public transit workers, nurses, grocery clerks, janitors.

These are the Americans who told Congress today that the Trump admin's approach to testing proves dangerous & its inability to produce adequate PPE 4 months into the pandemic, even more so.
STORY: courthousenews.com/congress-hears…
Talisa Hardin isn't a politician.
And she isn't a reporter.
She's a nurse.
And this is what she told Congress:

“If I could be tested, if more workers could be tested, and get those results back faster, some of the things that make life harder right now would go away."
For the record: I feel very passionately about this and I'm aware, as a reporter the expectation is to keep your passions out of it, but the truth is the truth: These people are risking their lives to save their fellow Americans. If they say they need tests and PPE I BELIEVE THEM
Talisa Hardin isn't socially distancing from her child for five weeks because it would hurt Donald Trump or his base.

Talisa Hardin has a child with separation anxiety because she can't risk exposing her to a virus that she is likely to contract while she works day and night.
And if anyone has a problem with me saying that I am passionate about people not dying and that makes me a bad reporter, I'm sorry - I'm a human being first.
.@RepRaskin probably summed it best today:

“You may be heroes, but it doesn’t give your government the right to treat you as martyrs."
Final thought: It is not lost on me for one second that the people I heard testify today could be dead of Covid19 next month because they are not protected.
And I would sincerely hope this is not lost on anyone who listened to their stories today.
This isnt a game. This is people's lives we are reporting on.
