Best wishes to Mark as he works on evolving the @BuzzFeedNews operation in the midst of this pandemic and the associated economic crisis. I’m particularly excited to see the work out of the “inequality” desk — which was, of course, a lot of the animating focus of my BF work.
One note about the reference to me in the memo. Although I covered the hell out of marriage equality, I was covering the panoply of LGBT issues—including, from the start, the question of whether and to what extent LGBT people are protected under Title VII and related laws/EOs. 
That matters because, from the start, @BuzzFeedNews was about more than the top-line issue of the day. We were looking ahead, seeing what was coming down the pike — and reporting on it, in depth, before anyone else.

Investigative reporting is essential to the news, but so is beat reporting—the effort to hold officials accountable day in and day out, in ways large and small, by capturing stories as they’re developing (in effect, before any big investigation is needed).
