I believe the many declarations of "Work From Home" (WFH)––especially those with a celebratory tone––
are mostly self-assurance, coping-mechanism
to rally + raise morale
to embrace + adapt to a 'new normal'
to treat as victory not defeat...
to reframe it as desired destination––and not a begrudging purgatory with uncertain exit.
as if to say: "i will wait no longer to go, for i have arrived"
to reclaim agency + authority and (the illusion of) choice––and to choose not to be a hostage at home...
BUT...
it is NOT our NATURE
It IS likely the right thing to do (for now)
It IS evidence of our endless adaptability––as a species––to survive in bitter cold tundras or burning hot deserts––in the expanse of the Savannah or in the confines of a small apartment...

Copied + highlighted here:
the flexibility to work from home (and the respect for safety + personal risk preferences) will stay for a very long-time
––our HABITS
the desire as social primates to BE w/others, to comfort/console, concoct schemes, gossip, team, trust + betray, returns
––OUR NATURE.
