Several of the most talented, creative, and thoughtful people you can hire are looking for work; I’ll be sharing a list of them early next week and RTing them now. If your company is hiring in engineering, media or marketing, they will be the most valuable hires you can make.
All of these people are leaders who not only set a standard for being great coworkers or collaborators, they also have extensive experience with making remote work succeed since long before the current work-from-home moment.
We had layoffs at Glitch this week. The context is what you’d expect: we are a small company in a fiercely competitive space in a tough economy. But these good people have done immensely valuable work that our entire team and community are grateful for.
A number of people at companies across the industry have reached out to show their support for all of these talented people, and all of our team would endorse their professionalism, discipline and character.
Briefly: it’s appropriate and valid to criticize me when there are layoffs; I made the choices at our company that have led to this point. I would only ask that you be mindful in your critique not to incidentally malign any of the good work done by these thoughtful people.
