24 May 1943 | SS-Hauptsturmführer Josef #Mengele received his transfer order to the #Auschwitz concentration camp. He began his service there on May 30 - he became the chief physician of the #Zigeunerlager (Gypsy sector) at Auschwitz II-Birkenau. 
Josef Mengele in #Auschwitz carried out anthropometric, serological & morphological studies of the twins. He deliberately infected some with typhus. The final phase of his pseudo-medical experiments included killing the twins & conducting a comparative analysis of their organs.
Mengele’s other areas of interest were biological abnormalities, such as people with heterochromia iris - a pair of eyes with diverse coloration, the physiology and pathology of dwarfism as well as gangrenous disease of the face known as noma faciei.
