were committing what prosecutors refer to as a “1001 violation.” Think of the now infamous incident of Mike Flynn lying to FBI agents about whether he discussed w/the Russians the possible lifting of sanctions. This law also applies to testimony before congressional committees.
Further: “With respect to any matter within the jurisdiction of the legislative branch, [this statute shall apply to] any investigation or review, conducted pursuant to the authority of any committee, subcommittee, commission or office of the Congress, consistent with
applicable rules of the House or Senate.” In English, this means that everyone who testifies before Congress, from Hope Hicks and Corey Lewandowski to Judge (now Justice) Brett Kavanaugh and every other judicial nominee Mitch McConnell shoved down America’s throat, committed
a 5-year felony IF they lied during their testimony. In fact, it’s 5 years per lie. I wonder how many 1001 violations would be exposed if, come January 2021, the FBI is allowed to conduct a full investigation into the truthfulness of congressional testimony? #JusticeIsComing
