I’m working on creating a client @RoamResearch database for Fabriq summing up our work during the first three months of our engagement. I’ll be updating this thread with obstacles and learnings from the process as I go. ourfabriq.com
General engagement details - we started off with a behavioral audit of the app. After that, we started a retainer, where I help them with problems related to influencing user behavior so users are able to better experience the app’s promised value roamresearch.com/#/app/Rob-Hais…
My goal is much broader than what I generally have in a looking lens page. I want to summarize and condense over 300 notes related to Fabriq into the main points and supporting materials, not answer a specific set of questions.
I want to create an outline with commentary for myself in one page in my personal database that links out to greater context so I can effectively archive all of my notes from this time period. 3 months or 3 years from now, I'm not gonna want to reread through 300+ notes
Main principles of "brainstorming with myself" stand. I'm glad that I've been keeping track of [[open question]]s and [[questions from clients]], that will help me identify what's important to move over into their custom made database and structure my own outline better.
I really wish that block refs carried over the tags that are within them right about now. Outline is getting long, and it would make adding things to it easier if I were able to quickly filter the page for things like [[open question]] or [[virality]]
Trying this out as a solution. It's helpful because it takes me to the right section on the page, but is requiring a lot of maintenance, especially as I go deeper in my nesting. Page filtering + type to pull up a page to filter would be more effective
So far I've processed 70/306 notes. Normally I would use queries to narrow it down ahead of time, but my goal is to summarize for Fabriq and for future me, so it's more straight reading and affinity mapping. I'm applying #p to anything I've already looked through so its one touch
In the future I'll be chunking outlining. Instead of doing a massive outlining project after three months, creating speculative outlines and processing review into outlines in smaller time intervals would give me a continuous grasp of the web of thought. notes.andymatuschak.org/Executable_str…
Quantity is hard. I've been discovering more and more the importance of maintaining an understanding/familiarity of what I have available to reference and build on in my notes. Still figuring it out.
I'm really happy with what's emerging. I'm able to see ideas and questions that we've worked on, are working on, & backlogged. In general, this is leading to insight on the past, present, and future of this engagement. Super excited to distill the outline into a client database.
