The book spells out the implications of social identity theorising for multiple dimensions of the pandemic and, in the words of #AndrewCuomo, is designed to help readers "get their heads around the 'we' thing"

Section A is written by @jetten_j @ReicherStephen, Tegan Cruwys and I and is designed to explain (a) why the social psychological dimensions of the pandemic are so important and (b) why social identity processes are central to these.

Section B is on Social Influence and with contributions from @NikSteffens @f_mols and Matthew Hornsey deals with processes of Leadership, Followership and Compliance, Behaviour Change, and Conspiracy Theories.

Section C is on Social Connectedness and has great contributions from @katiehgreenaway, Tegan Cruwys, @sarahvivbentley, @uqchasla and @orlamuldoon dealing with Threat, Risk Perception, Social Isolation, Aging, and Trauma.

Section D is on Collective Behaviour and has rich analysis of Crowds and Crowd Management, Emergencies, Solidarity, and Social Order from @FergusNeville @ProfJohnDrury @EvangelosPsych @DrRichardAmlot @cliffordstott and other experts in these areas.

Section E is on Intergroup Relations and has powerful insights from @drCharlie_C @HemaPreya Yuen Huo, Jack Dovidio, Elif Ikizer, @KunstJonas and Aharon Levy on Inequality, Polarisation, Prejudice, and Common Ingroup Identity.

The book shows how 40 years of insights from social identity research help us to better understand events of the last 4 months and can inform planning and public debate around the most significant world event of our lifetimes.
