This might all seem like “good fun”. But think of the message that is sent. Instead of having DC pay a decent-sized fine, apologise and stay on, the government has now sent the following messages: (thread)
1) If you disregard the rules because it is in the interests of your kids it is not just OK. It is good parenting.
Difficult not to read this as: If you STUCK with the rules in a difficult situation you were a bad parent.
Difficult not to read this as: If you STUCK with the rules in a difficult situation you were a bad parent.
2) The Telegraph has now added: If you disregard the rules because of “common sense” (whatever that is, I am not British, so clearly I do not have it) that is patriotic. If, however, you decide to stick with the rules, you are that most pathetic of creatures: a Frenchman.
How do you get this cat in the back when we need people to obey rules in a pandemic? Or are we now placing all bets on: we never need to tighten the lockdown again?
