I remember Germans wanting to decolonize “Jewish physics”.

They called it Arische Physik.

The beautiful vision of “decolonizing science” through ‘diversity & inclusion’ is *not* what it appears. It‘s mostly an effort to dilute ANYthing that looks like an outsized contribution.
To be clear:

A) Not everyone contributed equally to science.

B) Not everyone was given equal opportunity to contribute or credit for their contributions.

The Crux of the matter is we need to stop lying about A and address B.

B IS a problem. But A is simply an immutable fact.
There are not too many Irish, Jews, Scotts, etc in science and they are not “colonial”... even if there are too few Inuit, Masai and Maori. They are all small populations.

All have known oppression and subjugation. Yet some learn partial differential equations more than others.
To sum up: some historically oppressed & marginalized minority groups have used ENORMOUSLY outsized contribution to science, medicine, philanthropy, scholarship & the arts to stay viable partially as a hedge against obliteration by hostiles. There is no right to rewrite history.
