UPDATE: Can’t believe I’m writing this. Really had some belief Miami prosecutors/judge would take action. But here we are. 6 days later. Anthony Swain is still jailed. Despite being paraplegic. COVID+. Jailed pretrial 4 years. Drug charges. Parents ready to welcome him. Silence.
Prosecutors can’t say they’re not on notice. 2 weeks before Anthony Swain contracted COVID, Charles Hobbs suffocated in a Miami cell infected w/ COVID. Guards ignored pleas of other men trying to save his life. He died. Those brave men spoke out. Hear them:
The day Charles Hobbs died, Miami announced 163 people in their jails were positive. 3 weeks earlier there were 0 cases. 3 weeks earlier was when Anthony Swain filed a lawsuit calling for release & basic health inside jails. Warned of an outbreak. Today ~500. He’s one of them.

For those who know me, I hate line-drawing. But seriously what is the possible *claimed* justification for continuing to pretrial jail a paraplegic man, with an immune disorder, positive for COVID, charged with a drug offense, with parents ready to take him home?
