#20in2020: The Greatest Salesman Who Ever Lived

I stumbled on this mail this morning.  I sent it on August 9, 2002- that was almost 18 years ago (see attached). GSM telephony just started and telecoms was the big thing then.
Everyone wanted to get employed by them. I recall there was such a rush then with many bankers jumping ship. I wanted to jump ship too and someone gave me the email of one of the bosses at one of the telecoms firm then.
I forwarded this mail to someone working at one of the firms then. I've had a good laugh all morning reading this mail. I started out in operations (back office) and I had just moved to sales. My experience was quite limited but I had a very ambitious outlook.
I don't know how the recipient of this mail would have felt but having a 27-year old describe himself as possibly the greatest salesman ever was audacious.

Well, I never got a response from this person.
I've learnt a few lessons though. I don't type in CAPS again- typing in CAPS connotes you're shouting. This was 2002 and I didn't understand email etiquette then. I've also learnt not to be too brash.
With the benefit of hindsight, I was too forward and impudent even. I can imagine the HR guy got furious when he received my mail. Or maybe not. I've also improved on my communication. I write better and I will certainly craft my mail better should such an incident arise again.
However, I'm glad I had that self-belief that I can be the greatest salesman ever. Keep believing in yourself even if there doesn't seem much to you at the moment. Don't allow your present situation blurr the beautiful images of your future.
Think positively and speak good things always. Don't allow any form of negativity even when it seems things are not working out yet. Truth is things are taking shape gradually. It takes time to form but form it will eventually if you don't give up.
Others may not see it- but you don't lose sight of it.

"Believe in yourself. You are braver than you think, more talented than you know and capable of more than you imagine"- Roy T. Bennett.
