The real objective of the Bolsonaro movement has become clear over the last 6 months if not earlier: it *wants* civil disorder and street violence to justify restoration of military-era repressive measures. COVID-19 is barely discussed now even as it worsens. Genuinely dangerous.
As Brazil largely & understandably ignores the pandemic due to the menacing political instability and increasingly proximate threats to its democracy, it again set a new 24-hour record for Covid death - 1,156 - for a total of almost 27,000. Still rising:
