A person asked me the other day what it would take to outrage me. At this point in time, I honestly don't know. My outrage meter has been stuck on empty for a long time and I still can't find any change in the cushions to fill it.
Most of our society is fake. So seeing the fake stuff being exposed doesn't cause an outrage in me, it's just confirmation. Many people have little morals today, so seeing people acting badly doesn't cause an outrage in me; it's just an effect of the policies we have embraced.
Politicians have always been power mad crooks (FYI that's why we have a our constitution to limit the power these crooks can have), so articles pointing to crimes of those politicians doesn't cause me to be outraged, it's just human nature.
Western Civilization has become soft so when governments Locked down an entire world over a virus, my first impulse wasnt outrage, it's just a function of coddling the population for decades.
I'm sure at some point something will happen that will cause my outrage tank to be refueled. It happens from time to time, but as of right this minute, I can't think of what that would be.
Mostly, I suppose my outrage tank is empty because outrage, to me at least, is a useless emotional response that 99 times out of 100 causes actions that just make things worse.
I'm sure it feels good for the Karens of the world to be outraged at that person standing 5 feet and 10 inches from them but after they have their hissy fit, besides inventing a meme, what have they accomplished that isn't negative?
I'm sure it's an emotional release to burn, loot, and pillage when somebody did something, but after you carry that flat screen out of the burning building where are you going to go to loot/buy the needed cables, video games or food for that matter?
I know it will feel great to drain the swamp in D.C. of those bastards, but I'm smart enough to understand the rains of corruption will just come next season and fill that swamp back up with new swamp critters regardless of the outrage directed at that swamp and if
....we need outrage to remove the critters and drain the swamp then in most years that isn't going to happen. Outrage takes a lot of emotional energy. It never lasts. It's a flash in the pan and when the outrage energy is gone and used up, most often it's just that much darker.
So forgive me if I just sit this or that outrageous event out and enjoy an adult beverage, while others run around screaming and shouting and being outraged at the follies, fakeness, unfairness, imperfections and evilness of particular humans and of the human race in general.
