America, as a country, as a whole, is no better than Germany was in 1939.
I do not make this comparison lightly. I am of German descent and have heard the jokes many times over.
Let me explain:
Of course, we have to call them a different name because they're supposedly different from the concentration camps of the 1940s. They're "ICE Detention Centers" now.
In 1940, they deported (fact check?) and confined the Jewish and Romani, and blocked immigration thereof.
Now it's the Latinos/Latinas that we deport, and the Mid-Easterns that we block.
In 1940, it was known as the Allgemeine-Schutzstaffel (shortened to the SS). Nowadays, it's the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE).
In 1939, it was Poland (1939-09-01). Nowadays, well, a lot of it pre-date Anticitizen One being in office, but the main three were Iraq, Syria, and Libya.*
*The War on Terror was officially ended 2013-05-23
So don't you sit around and tell me that calling Anticitizen One a fascist is misleading, because his modus operandi is fascism by very definition.
Forget the definition of fascism? Don't worry, I got ya.
„Fascism is a form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, and strong regimentation of society and of the economy which came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe.”
We'll hold off on checking 'dictatorial power' for now.
Suppression of opposition? He wrote a bill to suppress social media from 'censoring' him. Check.
Regimentation of society? Let's crack open the dictionary...
„Regimentation is very strict control over the way a group of people behave or the way something is done. ”
Strict control of society? He has the National Guard supporting police in MN, and the ACAB thing shows we live in a police state, so check.

Skim that, especially the sentence before the references:
„Following his acquittal, Trump began identifying and removing political appointees and career officials he deemed insufficiently loyal.”
And in doing so, I believe I can sufficiently say, the United States is no better off than Germany was in 1940.
