National Guard *planning* began yesterday morning, they say
Early yesterday morning... soldiers notified of mission... yesterday afternoon -- lack of clarity about mission was talked about. Didn't know what special equipment might be needed, plus being concerned about moving to unfamiliar area in Mpls in cover of darkness.
National Guard Adj Gen. Jon Jensen saying the mission assignment was not clear. Speaking to the danger they faced in unfamiliar areas.
Finally after midnight, Gov Walz gave an order for Nat. Guard to clear the 3rd precinct area.
This opens up all sorts of questions for Gov. Walz.. WHY no clarity? Why take so long?
More fingers pointed about "lack of mission" without saying who they are pointing the finger at.
Harrington says AFTER midnight Mayor Frey called and admitted they couldn't control Lake Street and 3rd precinct. The 3rd fell by 10:30pm
