Our police department in Washington, DC will always protect DC and all who live and visit here. That's exactly what we did yesterday and last night. There's no police dept in the nation better prepared to safely support Americans exercising their first amendment rights than ours.
2/ People are tired, sad, and desperate for change. We need leaders who recognize pain and in times of despair can provide us a sense of calm and hope. Instead, what we've got in the last two days from the White House is the glorification of violence against American Citizens.
3/ To everyone hurting, and doing their part to move this country forward, we will look to ourselves for this leadership and this hope. Our power is in peace and in our voices and ultimately in the ballot box.

1/ Today, I announced several policies as part of the District’s re-imagination of public space during the ongoing coronavirus public health emergency, including the buildout of “streateries.”
2/ Streateries expand beyond individual parking lane uses and close one or more lanes of an entire block or more to vehicle traffic to allow for outdoor dining and table service.
3/ As we begin a phased reopening, or what I like to call ‘Stay-at-Home Lite,’ we are reimagining the use of public space to support restaurants, retail, and recreation.

1/ Today, I announced two monumental agreements to improve health care and address inequalities in health outcomes for District residents.
2/ The agreements include the construction of two new, state-of-the-art hospitals:
a 136-bed hospital at St. Elizabeths East in Ward 8, operated by Universal Health Services in conjunction with George Washington University and George Washington Medical Faculty Associates (GWMFA);
3/ and a 225-bed Howard University Hospital on Georgia Avenue NW in Ward 1.

Both hospitals will build upon their existing and new networks of care to deliver fully integrated systems of care, offering the best in clinical integration.
