i can't really summarize years' worth of research & experience on here but a few quick notes about "ANTIFA":
1. it stands for antifascist
2. it traces its origins to street-fighting armies who confronted the fascist forces of mussolini, the nazi party, & fascists across europe
3. post WWII, proto-antifascists like the 43 group, street fighting jews who beat up British fascists who supported Oswald Moseley, continued that legacy
4. in the '60s and '70s multiracial radicals banded together to fight fascist parties like the National Front in Britain
5. in the '80s, racist skinhead punks began to hurt minorities & antiracist punks like the Red Warriors in France fought back
6. the "black bloc" technique- dressing all in black with masks-- emerged from German leftists called Autonomen who fought postwar Nazism

protests get violent when police unleash militarized weapons -- tear gas and rubber bullets and more. that is state violence.
if you want an explanation for why protests escalate: the police murder people with impunity and gas others for questioning them. that is the escalation.
they're sending in hundreds of armed soldiers and armored humvees and the president is calling for murder. so you tell me who's escalating.

Target will be fine. Targets of police violence aren't.
stop freaking out about a goddamn autozone. all you're saying is you crave a monopoly on violence by a racist state and its white supremacist agents. that dissent against the boot on the neck disturbs you more than the blocked throat.
personally, i'm staying focused on staying rageful at the lack of consequences for murder by the state. i am angrier at that than the people forced to impose consequences for murdering them, because the state has failed them. mappingpoliceviolence.org.
