This is Trayvon Martin. Trayvon was 17 years old when he was walking to a relatives house in a gated community with a bag of Skittles and an iced tea in his hand. According to George Zimmerman, he looked “suspicious” enough to shoot. Zimmerman was found not guilty
A neighbor called a non-emergency line because Atatiana Jefferson’s front door was open and they were worried. When police arrived on the scene, Atatiana looked out of her window to observe. Police shot her, believing her to be the “intruder”. The police is still being indicted.
This is Johnathan Ferrell. When he was 24, he was in a car crash. After, he began knocking on doors to get help. Someone called the police, and he was glad to finally receive help and ran towards them. He was shot 12 times by officer Kerrick and the case ended in a “mistrial”
Corey Jones was 33 and loved to play the drums. Jones’s car broke down on the side of the road, so he got out and stood by it after trying to get it running. Within seconds, Jones was shot 3 times. However, security tapes prove that Jones never moved. The officer faces 25 years.
Jordan Davis was only 17 when he was sitting in the car listening to music with his friend.A white man named Michael Dunn approached his car and told him to turn his “thug music” down.He did,but he turned the music back up.He was shot in the legs, lungs, and heart.Dunn faces life
Oscar Grant was 22 standing on a platform watching a fight. Police cuffed him, detained him, and he complied. Officer kneed Grant in the head and pinned him down to the platform. While down, the officer grabbed his pistol and shot Grant in the back. Found not guilty of murder.
John Crawford was 22 when went shopping. While in Walmart, he picked up an on-sale BB gun. He walked to checkout with the BB in one hand and his phone in the other. Footage showed that he never raised it, but he was shot in the arm and chest by an officer who faces no charges
This is 26 year old accountant Botham Jean. He was sitting in his apartment when a an off duty police officer entered and shot him several times because she “thought it was HER apartment” and she thought he was a burglar She is serving 10 years in prison.
Sandra Bland was pulled over for a traffic ticket. She and the officer exchanged engaged in non-violent conflict until he tased and arrested her. She was found hung in jail cell. Her death was ruled a “suicide”
Aiyana Jones was seven years old. She was laying on her grandmothers lap when police officers “accidentally” raided the wrong apartment building and shot Aiyana in the head. The officer admitted what he had done, but the case was declared a mistrial.
Terrence Crutcher was 30 when his car stopped in the middle of the road. He exited and told people to back away from it,as he thought it may blow. He approached his vehicle when officers came. They tased and shot him because he”looked like a bad dude”. Officers found not guilty
Michael Brown was 18 when he was sitting in his car with a friend. An officer approached his car and grabbed Brown’s neck through his open car window and shot twice. He ran to avoid being shot more, but turned around with his hands in the air. He was shot 6 times. No charges.
Freddie Gray was 25 when arrested for possessing a knife. Freddie, while being transported in a police van (restrained) , was beaten to death by six police officers, to the point where his spinal cord broke. They faced no charges, and only received a small suspension with pay.
Philando Castille was 32 when pulled over with his gf and child. When the officer asked for his license, Castille told him that there was a gun in his car. The cop told him again to hand him his license. When Castille reached for it, he was shot 7 times. Officer found not guilty
Sean Bell was 23.Bell accidentally crashed into an unmarked police car while trying to leave a club that he was holding a bachelor party in;he thought there was going to be a shooting.The officer shot into his car 50 times because he”thought”he saw a gun.Officer found not guilty
Renisha McBride was 19. She knocked on a door to get help after she crashed her car. The homeowner “accidentally” shot her with a shot gun because he “thought” she was breaking into his home,although she never tried to enter. The homeowner was charged with second degree murder
Ahmaud Aubrey was 25 when he went on a jog through his neighborhood. Travis McMichael and his son decided that day to end his life because they thought he “looked like” a man who committed a burglary. He was unarmed. He was just taking a jog. The men were found guilty of murder
This is Tamir Rice. He was only 12. In his last moments, he was playing with a toy air soft gun by himself. Cops were heard on the radio going back and forth on how the weapon was fake and how he was a child, but shot him twice anyway. The officers face no charges.
Amadou Diallo was a 23 year old man. Police officers outside of his own home believed he “looked like” a suspect that was wanted for rape. One police claimed to see a gun, but all Diallo had on him was a wallet. He was shot at 41 times, and all officers involved were acquitted.
Walter Scott served 2 years in the US Coast Guard. He was 50 when he was pulled over for his brake light. Scott was unarmed, but tried to flee the scene. Without saying anything, an officer shot him multiple times in the back. The officer plead guilty and is serving 20 years.
This is Stephon Clark. Stephon was 23 when he was walking around his grandmothers yard, talking on his phone. Two police “thought” they saw a gun, but it was just his cellphone. They shot 20 rounds into his back, and then handcuffed his brutalized body. Officers werent charged
George Floyd was described as being a “gentle giant”. He moved to Minnesota for a better life with his kid. However, when officers thought he “looked like” a man who had wrote a bad check, a cop stuck his knee in his neck and suffocated him. His last words were ”I can’t breathe”
