@rickybloomfield From comments on that post: Debi of @MyPatientLink used the app she created to spot dangerous polypharmacy (from 3 states away) to rescue mom from real trouble. participatorymedicine.org/epatients/2020…

@rickybloomfield @MyPatientLink Sadly, her father too was severely mismanaged but thru the app she was able to get his problem correctly identified to ease his intense pain in his final days. participatorymedicine.org/epatients/2020…

Note: in both cases this was data the providers had & were failing to manage. #LetPatientsHelp
@rickybloomfield @MyPatientLink In another comment @VincentKeunen linked to why he developed his app participatorymedicine.org/epatients/2020…. (It's telling that so many people who encounter these problems DEVELOP apps, if they can.)
@rickybloomfield @MyPatientLink Here's a simple but profound one from @PHRLisa, "the original Janie Appleseed." Seeing an order allowed spotting an important typo in her dad's rx and getting it fixed. participatorymedicine.org/epatients/2020…
@rickybloomfield @MyPatientLink @PHRLisa Also in that @PHRLisa comment, on her dx screening she spotted an error that she got fixed.

Such things may sound minor but no doc can practice right with an erroneous chart in front of them! It's a disservice to docs, as well as patients, and sometimes incurs extra costs.
@rickybloomfield @MyPatientLink @PHRLisa And I imagine kidney cancer pt @PeggyZuckerman's comment shows why she's been on board of Society to @ImproveDX ... which probably has other stories. participatorymedicine.org/epatients/2018…
@rickybloomfield @MyPatientLink @PHRLisa @PeggyZuckerman @ImproveDX To wrap it up, Dr. B., it may surprise some but there are many many stories where the supposedly clueless class called Patients can genuinely help HC achieve its potential, incl by seeing everything in the chart (data & notes). To resist this is to be outdated. [One more...]
@rickybloomfield @MyPatientLink @PHRLisa @PeggyZuckerman @ImproveDX Now, if all you were asking for is simpler things like "What good things happened when you saw your lab results," I imagine we can dig up some of those.

But really, the problem to solve is people with the outdated paradigm that says "What good could come of this????"
