Open up churches or not is the wrong debate.

The #coronavirus loves churches.

They are its perfect breeding ground: confined environments where lots of people gather for a long time to talk, sing, and touch each other.

That's why temples across the world have closed and masses are conducted online.

Yet churches are important for the spiritual and social lives of many people.

The debate is asking the wrong question. It shouldn't be "Should we reopen churches?" but rather "HOW do we reopen churches safely?"

I was curious to see how common that was, so I labeled the top 100 places. Sure enough, more than 50% are prisons/jails correctional facilities, and with meat packing plants they account for nearly 75% of the top 10 outbreaks. [2/3]
This shows how bad the situation is in these places. The only silver lining I can see is that they will get to herd immunity fast, which will reduce future caseload. They will also represent good sources of data to understand the virus well. If the data ever becomes available [3/

Two months ago, images of mass graves in Iran woke up the world to the threat of the #coronavirus.

Since then, the world has registered over 5 million cases. The US has suffered over 100,000 deaths.

Yet the battle has just started.
Unthinkable lockdowns swept the world.
People suffered them.
Many think the threat has disappeared.

It hasn't.

In some places, it's lurking.
In others, it's back.
In others, it never left.
The US is like 50 small countries, except most are still not safe.
States with outbreaks seed infections in cleaner states.
People leave their homes unmasked.
In states where citizens behave like that, lurking is death.
