The modern left's ethos is a mixture of arrogance and contempt

Arrogance, in the unwarranted confidence that their values and perspectives are absolutely right and true

Contempt, in their dismissive, vicious treatment of those who disagree
Despite being largely secular, the modern left has far more confidence that their moral system is correct than religious believers

Which is saying something!
That's how you can understand their complete 180 on social distancing

It takes IMMENSE arrogance to think "your reasons for wanting to ignore social distancing orders are stupid and irrelevant, but mine are right and good."

But that's the line the entire left is taking

Everyone in media who's upset about Trump tweeting about Scarborough should be ready to overturn NYT v. Sullivan

To make it easier for Scarborough to sue the President for defamation

But since defamation is their business model they just want Twitter to ban Trump
Let's be real

Journalists like @oliverdarcy and @brianstelter want to be able to accuse the President of being an agent of a foreign power without consequence

While being able to censor their enemies for anything they deem conspiratorial

Progressive, journalistic privilege
This is America, we don't have prior restraint

That's at the core of the First Amendment

You shouldn't be able to censor people because they are lying

But if those lies cause damage, you should be able to sue them in court

We have usury laws to prohibit exploitative lending and credit card contracts

We have insurance laws to prohibit exploitative insurance contracts

We can easily have platform laws that prohibit exploitative social media terms of service
Twitter now demands the right to ban any user at any time for any reason

They do not compensate users for their contributions to the platform

And now they can seize your platform without redress, no matter how much work has gone into building your audience
Terms of service like these should be illegal for large social media platforms

And there's no reason they can't be, it just takes the will to make it law
