George Floyd was a man of faith, a man of color, & a father to the young men in his community & church. My heart breaks for his family & for our country being torn apart by violence. Honor the legacy of Floyd by protesting in peace. There will be justice for him & his family.
“Beloved, do not avenge yourselves but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, ‘Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,’ says the Lord.” We are one American family united by liberty & justice for all. Justice will be served where our laws were broken & civil liberties violated.
We must hold our elected officials accountable, we must pray for peace, and we must demand justice, but it cannot be at the expense of our communities or people’s lives, protestor or officer.
Riots hurt our underserved communities for years after. Let us work together to heal our communities and address the poverty that has gripped them for generations so that our young people of color have an outlet other than violence in times of hurt.
