Possibly after the first conversion A to Ab.

The A/Ab locos were good performers on TGR.
Fortunately one was preserved. A(b)4. It spent the last 30 service years or so at Launceston loco. In 1960 saved from the scrapper & was moved to the City Park there.

In August 1990 A4 was moved to the Don River Railway.
Still in long term restoration.

It is in company with H7, M3 and Hudswell Clarke B/N 1548.

All Ab locos were withdrawn in the 1950s. Apart from Ab4 (A4) all were scrapped 1956.
