Well, friends, I’m back at the #DenverProtest for #GeorgeFloyd. Someone threw something toward the cops. They responded.
“Stop throwing shit.”
People threw a lot more at the cops blocking the road at Lincoln and 14th. The cops left. People cheered. 
Fights are breaking out as more while people damage public buildings. “Y’all ain’t seen nothing yet.” Black people are asking their allies to stop.
This man wouldn’t give his name but said he’s doing all this for #GeorgeFloyd. When asked about his actions detracting from peaceful protests, he said: This is all about the capitalist regime. We’re making them pay for this shit.
So, the cops did come back. With extra help.
It continues:
A man l, wearing a Jesus shirt, is now preaching.
More rocks getting thrown, just heard fireworks. Cops responding with tear gas, projectiles.
Less than an hour until curfew and the crowds don’t seem to be dwindling.
“Get on your knees. Show them who’s the real victim.”

Victoria Belizaire, a Denver resident, said she plans to stay out past the curfew. When asked why, she said “civil unrest. History.” She wants to show that “I’m not tired of fighting. I’m tired of this shit.” She was hit by a projectile from police in her gut, she said.
Originally from NY, she said Denver police isn’t as aggressive compared to agencies like Aurora and NY. She wants systemic change.
Protesters are putting their own blockade, fence. “They’re preparing to stand their ground.” Not just lifting barriers off the ground, as I thought earlier.
More fireworks, more tear gas in response.
Ciera Murphy, a Denver resident, says she doesn’t plan to stay past 8 p.m. She’s worried “about the people and what will happen to them,” including if they’ll get arrested or hurt, she said.
There is A LOT of anger toward people throwing things at cop, vandalizing. Other protesters pushing them out and asking them to leave.
Tevone Hall said he’s staying out past curfew because “the cops are still killing us and we’re finally doing something about it. He added: Sometimes it has to be violent before it gets peaceful.”
“They shot me in the fucking finger!” Jesse Wuest, Denver resident. “My niece is part black so this could be her. My newphew is black so could be him.” Said he’s never done anything like this before. “They also shot me in the pants, which took off my button.”

2 minutes.
8 p.m.
Chants of “we are one,” following loudspeaker announcement from DPD that violation of curfew could result in arrest.
Cops responding with A LOT of tear gas.
“Who’s streets? Our streets”
The gas pushed people away from the Capitol, but they’re not going home.
I suddenly feel very silly for the pepper spray attached to my keys at the moment.
People are walking back toward the Capitol. Lots of yelling, beeping.
More chanting, more anger.
Couple I just talked to - who declined to give their names - said they’re staying out here as long as people are out here to help people getting tear gassed. They call the curfew unconstitutional and say they’re protesting police brutality, calling the tear gas response brutality
They collected these remnants. “They were tear gassing relentlessly.”
Courtney Martin is participating in the protest but staying back a little. She said she hates conflict but she wants to be an ally and support people of color against police brutality. “They can’t fight it alone. If you’re not angered, there’s something wrong
Many others declining to provide their names but say they’re out at the #DenverProtest to make their message heard.

Another fire:
Cops are taking someone into custody at #DenverProtest.
People watching say they’re unsure what happened.
Cops got mad people were too close as they were shooting projectiles. Used what I assume is mace in their faces. @EliseSchmelzer is in the background yelling “press!”
The crowd has dwindled significantly, but there are still people and cops out.
Walking back, much quieter than earlier.
Even leaving now, there are still groups of people out, running from police.
