Now since every cynical Tom, Dick & Harry has to say something (mostly sensational unverfied misinformation) on Indo China standoff at Ladakh attributing it to imaginary sources, here are a few factual statements for them to set the record straight.
The Indian Army & the PLA are engaged in a standoff at the LAC at multiple locations in eastern Ladakh. The PLA buildup is well within the confines of its side ( upto 6-10 kms behind the LAC ).
The PLA has not even come into an inch of what we perceive to be our side of the LAC.
China has recently built up and strengthened its positions on the Pangong Lake in the finger area. This area where the PLA has built up has been controlled by it since 62 war on the Chinese side of the LAC.
For decades now, Finger 4 ridge has served as de facto LAC, with India claiming till Finger 8 (suffering losses in 1962) & China claiming till Finger 2 (firmly under Indian control).
The motorable road to Finger 4 was constructed by PLA in 1999, taking advantage of Kargil war.
India too was building its motorable road from its base at Finger 2, which unnerved the PLA and it came upto Finger 4 on the China controlled side of the de facto LAC. The PLA has put up temporary structures.
The other position where the PLA is building a massive buildup is near the #Hotsprings Sector on the Chinese side of the LAC.
This is 15 KM North of Indian #Gogra Base and is 6 KM away from LAC (on the Chinese Side of the LAC again & not on our side).
In response, India too has bolstered its already strong defence capabilities by further buildup and rapid mobilization of troops and heavy military hardware on the Indian side in both Pangong Lake and Gogra areas .
The PLA had not anticipated this.
Besides the Pangong Lake Area, the other area about which imaginary claims and misinformation has been made by some who love to sensationalize is the Galwan Valley Area.
Again, their imaginary sources have duped them. The LAC is intact in Galwan valley too.
What unnerved China in this area was a series of road construction activities, which are imp to India strategically, vis-a-vis our key base of Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) in sub-sector north in eastern Ladakh.
India’s BRO completed Shyok-DBO road last year despite China's objection.
This road is at least 10 km inside the LAC at several points, and runs perpendicular to the Galwan river.
To connect this road to the LAC, India was constructing feeder roads.
This included a bridge over a nullah or rivulet, near the confluence of the Shyok and Galwan rivers.
The Chinese have been objecting to this, and after the Pangong clash, they decided to increase their presence.
China brought in a large number of Border Defence Regiment (BDR) troops along the LAC to stop the Indian construction activity.
They have pitched a large number of tents and set up associated logistics elements. India has in response to the Chinese objection increased its construction activities.
Responding to Chinese deployment India has also gone for heavy deployment in the Galwan Valley.
There was an attempt by the PLA to make an ingress on the Indian side in the Galwan valley but they had been forced to withdraw because of heavy Indian deployment in forward postions and fear of imminent strong counter action by India.
It needs to be reiterated that Chinese buildup in the Galwan Valley is on the Chinese controlled side of the LAC only.
No transgression on Indian side has been allowed by India.
Indian Army is standing strong. Any force by PLA shall be met with greater force by the Indian Army.
The PLA had not expected Chinooks, artillery guns & IAF jets so close to them so soon.
The IAF is carrying out regular sorties of Sukhoi 30 MKI in the Ladakh region amid new border tensions.
An Indian Navy team has also reached Ladakh for providing support to IA in Pangong Lake.
We have a T-72 Tank Brigade in Ladakh. Besides this, we have advanced landing grounds (military airfields) in Ladakh at Daulat Beg Oldi, Hanle, Thoise and Fuk Che.
DBO airbase has been revamped greatly and its capacity increased.
Thoise & Fuk Che airfields too have been revamped.
The PLA has been taken aback by huge Indian Military Deployment.
The message has been sent.
Salami Slicing won't be tolerated now.
There is a strong dispensation in India.
Indian Military is standing strong and will respond in kind.
This is an undated and unverified video of PLA troops abandoning their Armoured Protection Vehicles and one captured by Indian ITBP.
Other PLA soldiers seem to have abandoned their captured soldier.
