Trump's message the last 24 hours has been that the protesters are illegitimate "organized" leftists who should be met with more force and the press are the enemy of the people, and the people involved in the protests most likely to care what he says are law enforcement.
So... maybe a Trump national address on this isn't a great idea.
Getting worse...
What should armed cops in riot gear do when they come across those who they "understand" to be "truly bad people with a sick agenda" who are trying to "foment hatred and anarchy"?
President Trump's response to last night is to say that the violent protestors are terrorists and that journalists are fomenting hatred and anarchy. How should we expect law enforcement -- the people involved in the events most likely to care what he says -- to respond to that?
The squabbling around whether Trump can actually declare antifa a terrorist organization or whether it is an organization at all is besides the point -- he's just give carte blanche for virtually any response by law enforcement.
As you read the president's tweet about declaring antifa a terrorist organization you should probably consider that he pardoned former service members convicted or accused of murdering suspected terrorists.
Really cannot be clearer than this. Trump retweeting a Fox contributor calling to treat the "radical left" as "domestic terrorists and enemies of the United States."
