This thread will address the Bot Sentinel Chrome and Firefox browser extensions, non-English accounts from Brazil, the removal of the untrustworthy classification, the new rating system, and the Bot Sentinel Android and iOS mobile apps.
1. We have received reports that the browser extension is not working for some users. We understand your frustration, but we have halted development on the old extension and we are focused on releasing v2.0 of the extension. We will release the new extension sometime in June.
2. Bot Sentinel’s classification model was trained using English tweets, Bot Sentinel wasn’t developed to classify non-English accounts. False positives and false negatives increase significantly for non-English accounts. However, we are addressing this issue...
We are now using Portuguese tweets to train a classification model specifically for inauthentic Brazilian accounts, and we hope to have the new classification model ready in July. We will support other territories/languages as demand increases.
3. Our former untrustworthy classification was a manual process. After months of long and careful consideration, we decided to remove the untrustworthy classification. We want to eliminate as much human interference from the classification process as possible.
4. The new rating categories are now Normal, Satisfactory, Disruptive, and Problematic. We changed our rating system colors and verbiage to make it easier for most users to understand. These changes were made in response to the feedback we received from our users.
5. We will eventually release a Bot Sentinel Android and iOS app. The issue is not development resources; the issue is the infrastructure required to support the wave of new users after we release the new apps...
We don’t have the luxury of paid ads or charging for our services to pay for the servers required to support thousands of concurrent users. So be please be patient, we will eventually release the mobile apps.
