I have no confidence that Trump can or will say anything to help anybody right now. I'm fine with him shutting up. I prefer it.
Who is Trump supposed to be addressing right now? It's not his voters out there burning shit and beating people up. The rioters aren't going to listen to him. If he tells them to stop, they'll just redouble their efforts. And people like @chrissyteigen will bail them out.
No, I'm not saying, "The media will twist his words!" They don't have to. He can't defuse this. Defusing things is not what he does. The best thing he can do right now is shut up.
